| During the late 70's Mike became interested in 1950's music, mainly due to bands like the Stray Cats and the Jets. At the age of 16 Mike was bought an acoustic guitar for Christmas, he quickly began singing and learning chords to all his favorite Sun recordings. This led to his first band The Rockets, which he formed with his friends while still at school. Within two years the band had left school and were touring the length and breadth of Britain.
Led Zeppelin's Robert Plant became one of the bands followers and introduced Mike to Andy Silvester (ex Chicken Shack, Savoy Brown & Steve Gibbons), which led to the beginnings of the Big Town Playboys, who emerged as one of the finest authentic ass kicking Rhythm & Blues bands of recent times.
Well documented with several album recordings, The Big Town Playboys toured continuously throughout Europe and America, performed three separate opening stints for Eric Clapton at the now infamous Royal Albert Hall residencies and recorded movie sound tracks for Ann Dudley and Jeff Beck.
With Mike's departure from The Big Town Playboys, he has continued as a solo performer with a growing reputation for his role as singer, pianist, front man and entertainer. Still receiving rave reveiws and is still in demand for his services as a session musician where in the past he has sessioned with the likes of, Eric Clapton, Robert Plant, Van Morrison, Mark Knopfler, Dave Gilmour, Mick Fleetwood, Robert Cray, Jools Holland, Brian May, Kate Bush, Andy Fair-weather Low, Christine McVie, Gary Booker & Robbie Coltrane to name but a few.
Currently Mike is playing along side ex Rolling Stone, Bill Wyman and his Rhythm Kings.
